CONSERVATION

The below chart is an average of many sources of planting info. No two web sites quote the exact same rates and dates and ph and planting depth. Depends on who you talk to. However, with that said, we hope this will be of some help in determining what, when, & how for your quail plantings.

Seed Drill Rate Broadcast Rate Soil Ph Fertilizer Plant Depth Dates Inoculate
NWSG Special Drill 6 lb./ ac. PLS 7.5 lb./ ac. PLS
Firm Seedbed
5.5 to 6.5 0-20-20 0 to 1/4"

Milo 10 lb./ ac. 15-20 lb./ ac. 5.5 to 6.5 13-13-13 or 15-15-15 1 to 2" May-June
Sudax 35 lb./ ac. 40-50 lb./ ac. 5.5 to 8.3 13-13-13 or 15-15-15 1 to 1.5" May-July

Korean Lespedeza 15 lb./ ac. 20 lb./ ac. 5.5 to 6.2 0-20-20 0 to 1/4" Jan-May yes
Quail Haven Beans 8-10 lb./ ac. 15-20 lb./ ac. 5.5 to 6.0 0-20-20 300lb./ ac. 1/2 to 3/4" May 1-Jul 4
Peredovik Sunflower 6 - 10 lb/ac. 12 - 15 lb/ac. 5.7 to 8.0 10/10/10 or 15-15-15 1 to 3.5" Mar - May

Note: PLS = Pure Live Seed

Sudax works well mixed with Milo (60-70% milo, 30-40% sudax)

Quail Haven works well if Sudax is added to give the runners something to climb.
